Description
Embouchure de l'Argens et Base Nature is an interesting place out of summer. For different winterers and nesters, and some passing rarities. The most interesting periods are those of migration (spring and autumn) and winter. In winter Yelkovan and various divers are not uncommon in the bay. Mahmuzlu incirkuşu is regular in winter in the large lawns of the old airfield. The Kızılgerdanlı incirkuşu is also not exceptional there.
The small lagoons between the aerodrome and the beach can hide surprises, especially in migration, as can the mouth of the Argens. Among the exotics, the Yeşil papağan and the Hint Gümüşgagası have become common.

Français: Intéressante juxtaposition de milieux : embouchure de l'Argens, plages, lagune saumâtre, prairies, bois. Hors saison estivale, un endroit intéressant pour différents hivernants et nicheurs, et quelques raretés de passage. Les périodes les plus intéressantes sont celles de la migration (printemps et automne) et l'hiver. En hiver, les puffins yelkouans et divers plongeons ne sont pas rares dans la baie. On cherchera le Pipit de Richard, régulier en hiver, dans les grandes pelouses de l'ancien aérodrome. Le Pipit à gorge rousse n'y est pas exceptionnel.
Les petites lagunes entre l'aérodrome et la plage peuvent cacher des surprises notamment en migration, de même que l'embouchure de l'Argens. Parmi les exotiques, la perruche à collier et le capucin bec de plomb sont devenus communs.

Access
The easiest way is to park in the beach car park, free out of season. Access by Boulevard de la Mer, follow the signs to the parking area (at the roundabout, on the right).

As the place is very busy when the weather is nice, it is better to avoid Sundays all year round (or come very early) and the tourist season from May to September.
