Description

The strip of land – you can't really call it an island – between the Canal de l'Est and the Moselle near the town of Charmes is a quiet, green oasis, less than a ten-minute walk from the centre of the town. I was here in September 2024 and heard Arıkuşu several times a day. Given the many clay pits and huge piles of sand downstream of Charmes and the steep banks of the Moselle, the presence of is actually very logical. Also Yalıçapkını can be observed and near the dam (Barrage de Charmes) you can spot Derekuşu and Dağ kuyruksallayanı.

As I only visited this area in autumn, I would appreciate it if other users give feedback on this area in other seasons and which birds can be spotted here. For this you can click on the 'Comment'-button at the bottom of this page. Thank you!
