A small natural village where you can find many birds throughout the seasons.
Montroeul-au-Bois, with its many agricultural fields dotted with bushes and hedges, is a very good site for observing small passerines typical of fields and meadows such as Mavigerdan, Çayır incirkuşu, Sarı kirazkuşu, Çalı kamışçını and Küçük Ak Gerdanlı Ötleğen. Other birds typical of agricultural areas can be observed in Montroeul. For example, Çilkeklik, Kızkuşu, Bıldırcın or Sülün.
The proximity to Pétrieu wood is also very interesting because you can observe quite a few forest birds there such as Atmaca, Sürmeli Çalıkuşu, Alakarga, and Sıvacı. In the surrounding hedges, there are a lot of Karabağlı ötleğen, a few Akgerdanlı ötleğen and some Boz ötleğen.
Montroeul is also a very good place for the observation of owls such as Kukumav, Alaca Baykuş, Kulaklı orman baykuşu and the rare Puhu which sings in the spring in the depths of the wood. You can also find some wintering raptors such as Boz doğan and Gökçe delice.
Finally, the village is also a great place for spring and autumn migration. Many birds pass over the village in the spring. For example, Arı Şahini, Leylek, the rare Kızıl Çaylak, Karasırtlı Martı and even, an an exceptional sighting, a Kara akbaba in the spring of 2023. Every spring many Boğmaklı Ardıç and Kuyrukkakan stop to take a short break in their migration. The same goes for the autumn migration where squadrons of Kızıl ardıç, Tarla ardıcı and Ökse ardıcı pass at full speed above the village, sometimes even making prolonged halts.
