Description
Even the industrial/urban area in the north of this region harbours quite some good species in winter, like Fiyu, Boz ördek, Tepeli patka and Elmabaş patka. They can be common near te sewage works, as do gulls Küçük batağan and Boz kaz.
In recent years Balaban has become almost annual (often more then one) and some years Bıyıklı baştankara turns up. There's a big breeding population of Saz Kamışçını (>20 pairs) as do Kamış Bülbülü and Bataklık kirazkuşu in small numbers. In some years even Mavigerdan breeds here.
The meadow areas further to the south, especially those along the railway hold most of the time waders in late winter and spring. Çamurçulluğu, Orman düdükçünü, Yeşil düdükçün, Döşüşkenkuş, Küçük halkalı cılıbıt (breeds some years), Karakarınlı kumkuşu, Su çulluğu, Küçük su çulluğu and others are seen annual. In winter this area often holds Dağ incirkuşu. In wet years species as Çıkrıkçın and Kaşıkgaga can be breeding here. Irregular breeders are Bataklık kirazkuşu, Kamış Bülbülü and Taşkuşu.
The area more to the south can hold Yalıçapkını, Dağ kuyruksallayanı, Taşkuşu and the same species mentioned earlier, but chances on these are more remote.
