Description

Lake Eacham is home to most of the endemic Wet Tropic birds set against a beautiful backdrop this circular walk is worth a visit if in the area and might help you clean up a few missing rainforest birds. Victoria's Riflebird displaying is an obvious draw, but the chance to see Chowchilla, Tooth-billed Bowerbird and Pied Monarch to name but a few as you make your way round this beautiful patch of forest.

The path is nice and wide and pretty even so the walk is no challenge so you can focus on the birds.

Access

Leaving Yungaburra take the Gillies Range Rd for about 4km and turn right onto the Lake Barrine Rd then after 500m turn left onto Lake Eacham Rd and follow to the parking area. All the roads and the parking are sealed.

The parking is pretty plentiful but the lake can be busy in high season June-August. Dont worry though you can enjoy the rainforest sounds pretty soon after setting off as the sound doesnt carry too far.

The walk is circular and the track is wide gravel based and well maintained but usual trip hazards can be present. Its a grade 2, 3 km walk thats pretty easy at a birding pace and you are in the shadow of the canopy for most of it so its a little cooler which is nice on a hot day.
