Former mill, quarry and coal dramway, now an oasis of wildlife, with woodlands, ponds and a wildlife garden.
Willsbridge Valley is located on the edge of Bristol and offers a range of habitats to explore. This semi urban reserve contains woodland, ponds, streams and wildlife gardens.
In the woodland species such as ringduva, blåmes, koltrast, Skata and many more common birds can be seen all year round. The summer is particularly good for birdsong inlcuding migrants such as lövsångare and gransångare.
The stream offers a wonderful spot to see more illusive species such as kungsfiskare and strömstare.
Other wildlife that can be seen inlcudes foxes, frogs, toads, bagders and newts. The site is a great local place to visit all year round.
Willsbridge Valley Local Nature Reserve is located near Longwell Green, in the southeast of Bristol. Public footpaths allow access throughout the reserve. Car park is at rear of site and access is through the main footpath through the woodland. Wheelchair access via Willsbridge Hill to most of valley. Pathways enable exploration of the rest of the reserve. Can be muddy.
You can get the number 45 bus from Bristol City Centre and get off on Long Beach Road for access to the reserve.
There is a great free car park at the north side of the reserve. Click the P on the map for directions.
