Beskrivning

The Christopher Cadbury Wetland Reserve at Upton Warren may be small but it boasts a wide variety of birds, particularly waders. It's divided into two parts by a boating lake, with the Moors Pool to the north and The Flashes to the south, with 2 branches of the River Salwarpe running through it.

The Flashes has breeding skärfläcka and wintering storspov, plus many more species that might show up on spring and autumn passage. Regulars include drillsnäppa, skogssnäppa, större strandpipare, kärrsnäppa, gluttsnäppa and rödspov. Rarer species include brushane, sandlöpare, roskarl, myrspov, småspov, grönbena småsnäppa and spovsnäppa. Even dvärgsnäppa, wilsonsimsnäppa, smalnäbbad simsnäppa, styltlöpare, tuvsnäppa, mosnäppa and bronsibis have occurred. A pair of skäggmes were seen in November 2019. A Pilgrimsfalk is often present and may be seen perching on one of the radio masts.

The Moors Pool attracts more wildfowl and has breeding fisktärna, strandskata, rörsångare, sävsångare, cettisångare and Sävsparv. lärkfalk is present in summer and passage may bring brun kärrhök, Fiskgjuse and svarttärna, while one or two rördrom might appear in winter.

Both areas have breeding mindre strandpipare, tofsvipa and rödbena, as well as enkelbeckasin and dvärgbeckasin in winter. Also, the skrattmås roosts may feature a svarthuvad mås or a dvärgmås and have even hosted sotvingad mås and präriemås in the past.
