Beskrivning
Pembrey Country Park and Beach is set against the backdrop of the Gower Peninsula and overlooking the coastal scenery of Carmarthen Bay. The area has a long wide sandy beach with forest to the west, dunes and tidal mudflats to the east, and a centre for cycling, riding, golf, dry ski, industrial archaeology and camping/caravan.
This is a significant wintering area for raptors and waders, with divers, scoters, skuas and grebes offshore. Up to 38.000 sjöorre, 2.000 strandskata, 500 kustsnäppa, lesser numbers of bergand, prutgås, roskarl and svarthuvad mås. Kentsk tärna numerous in autumn. Occasional dvärgbeckasin, brandkronad kungsfågel, rördrom, stenfalk and blå kärrhök.
In summer, törnsångare and ärtsångare, kungsfågel, grönsångare and Mindre korsnäbb all breed. Facilities include cafe and two bird hides on the lake.
