Kingfishers Bridge Wetland Creation Project is 400 acres of wetland reserve on the banks of the river Cam in Cambridgeshire, managed by grazing waterbuffalo.
The Kingfishers Bridge reserve was originally conceived and created because of the abundance of birds passing through the River Cam corridor. The reserve has proven to be a vital resting and breeding site for increasing numbers and species of birds and many other species through the creation of different varieties of habitat.
The key to the successes at Kingfishers Bridge is the creation of variety; in sward, landscape and hydrology. The range of species regularly recorded at Kingfishers Bridge is due to the many habitats available to them in a relatively small area, whilst having the added protection of lower predator pressure.
The Kingfishers Bridge Nature Reserve car parks and trails are open to the public from dawn until dusk daily. The car parks may be locked outside of these times. Car parking is available on-site. There is a suggested daily donation of £5 to visit the reserve. Car parking will be available for Dawn Chorus, Evening Bat walks and other out of hours events, please park in the main car park. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the main car park.
