Sjötorpasjön is a good place to see wetland birds during much of the year. The surroundings (deciduous forests and farmland) are also interesting. Among the breeders are skäggdopping, knölsvan, brun kärrhök and in some years rördrom,gråhakedopping and skäggmes. Other breeders in the neighbourhood are röd glada , mindre hackspett, stjärtmes and härmsångare. During migration periods large flocks of grågås , kanadagås , gräsand and Kricka stay at the lake, often including the odd duck or goose species.
From the birding tower you may see several raptors, especially ormvråk, fjällvråk, röd glada, Brun glada, Fiskgjuse and havsörn.
