The Lillfjärden lake is primarily known for its geese. vitkindad gås, grågås, and kanadagås all breed. The lake also holds the entire swedish non-breeding population of fjällgås. Other geese like bläsgås, tajgasädgås, spetsbergsgås can often be found. Some years tundrasädgås and prutgås are also found during migration periods.
The lakes rocky coast is also often home to waders like svartsnäppa, rödbena, mindre strandpipare (breeds), strandskata (breeds), and brushane. The lake holds large amounts of gräsand and smaller amounts of other dabbling ducks. Even species which are rare in northern areas like snatterand, Skedand and årta. Smaller amounts of diving ducks can often be found. Wintering sidensvans and tallbit are often found. Although the numbers vary widely.

The lake lies directly north to the center of Hudiksvall. There are many places to park the car. Click on the P in the map to get directions. You can make a circular walk around the lake (2,5 km).
