Vélez Blanco is a quiet forest that is rich in owls, raptors and many other birds. Among the birds you can see here are kattuggla, dvärguv, kungsörn, dvärgörn, alpkråka, gåsgam, skatgök, Härfågel, biätare, tofsmes, blåmes, trädgårdsträdkrypare and blåkråka.

You must have an all-terrain vehicle, you get there from the village of Vélez Blanco going towards the cemetery and then towards Las Muelas. You can also hike from the village. It's about 5 km before you reach the edge of the forest, so you will be walking at least 10 km. But along the way to the forest the birding is already good. Another possibility: you drive a bit past the village and park the car at the point where the paved road ends. See the P on the map.
