Beskrivning
Laguna de Barlovento is a large freshwater reservoir in the northeastern part of the island of La Palma. Its a great spot to observe rare waterbird migrants (if present of course), common waterbird species and songbirds in the surrounding thickets.
The reservoir itself is used by large flocks of gulls, being mainly medelhavstrut and small numbers of silltrut. Small numbers of sothöna are also present on the water. With a bit of luck, rare species of duck can be spotted on the lake due to its location and the presence of a large freshwater body. Species that have been observed are ringand and Kricka. The shores are great for species like gluttsnäppa and forsärla.
The surrounding thickets are good for typical island species, like koboltmes, kanariegransångare, sammetshätta, kanariepiplärka and kanariesiska.
