Beskrivning
Radensko Polje is a small karst plain south-east of Ljubljana. The landscape is a mosaic of wet meadows, fields, hedgerows and surrounding forest edges, creating a rich variety of habitats within a compact area.
The plain is home to vit stork, gråhäger, purpurhäger, ägretthäger and Silkeshäger. Seasonal floods attract ducks such as brunand, Kricka, bläsand and vigg, as well as drillsnäppa and skogssnäppa, while kungsfiskare can be found along streams. Raptors include ormvråk , tornfalk and duvhök, with aftonfalk passing during migration. Warblers and several woodpeckers add to the diversity.
Though not the easiest birding location - birds tend to be elusive and the terrain challenging - Radensko Polje rewards patience with excellent birdlife and scenic karst landscape.
