In summer, Frognerparken is a good spot for the resident, urban species, like sädesärla , bofink , steglits and koltrast. In addition, the ponds will hold various ducks and maybe also rörhöna, drillsnäppa and forsärla. knölsvan breeds here.
In winter, the ponds usually have open water, which is good for wintering ducks. gräsand are of course abundant, while knipa and vigg are usual guests. Kricka and bläsand also regularly winter here. Always check for rarer species, especially in late fall and early spring. gråhäger is also a common sight. Gulls also frequent the park during the winter months, due to people feeding the ducks. Wintering skrattmås and fiskmås can be found, as well as rarer species. Both vittrut and Vitvingad trut have been reported from the park, and one ringnäbbad mås was found here in the spring of 2001.
Follow Frognerelva south west to Skøyen and look for strömstare during winter.

Frognerparken is easily accessible by bus, tram and subway. Majorstuen is the closest hub, a mere five minute walk away. If you exit to the south west towards Skøyen, you will find both train, tram and bus to take you back to Oslo. Driving is not recommended, as parking may be difficult and expensive.
