Beskrivning
Palm Islands Nature Reserve used to host many breeders in the past. Today, due to high levels of disturbance (many tourists visit the island via a boat shuttle) only the medelhavstrut still breeds on the island. Today, the island remains an excellent site for monitoring the large migration of waterbirds as well as well as potential observation and/or ringing of passerine migrants. The site is also interesting for wintering seabirds.
Birds that can be observed in the area include Storskarv, vit pelikan, årta, gråhäger, styltlöpare, skrattmås, silltrut, vit stork, vattenpiplärka, sädesärla, citronärla, forsärla, Kentsk tärna, tofsvipa, fisktärna, vitvingad tärna, mindre strandpipare, rallhäger, svart stork, bläsand and medelhavslira.
