Beskrivning
The Faros lighthouse lies on the northernmost point of Lesvos, and is completely abandoned. The view from this vantage point over the strait towards Turkey is fantastic. It's a great spot to observe migrating raptors and storks that cross the strait to Lesvos during autumn migration. Common species that can be seen are buzzards (Steppe Buzzard, örnvråk), harriers (brun kärrhök, ängshök and stäpphök), Brun glada, Fiskgjuse, sparvhök, duvhök, and storks (svart stork, vit stork).
Over the strait, large flocks of medelhavslira can be seen. Sometimes Scopolilira can be spotted within these flocks. Also keep an eye out for dolphins.
The road towards the lighthouse is great for smaller migrants, like rödstjärt, grå flugsnappare and höksångare. Also, large flocks of swallows, martins and swifts tend to hang around this part of the Korakas headland as well.

Tillgänglighet
The Faros lighthouse is fairly hard to reach with a "common" vehicle; the track is unpaved, steep, and consists of coarse gravel and rocks. It is adviced to only drive here with an offroad vehicle. You can also park your car at the top of the track and walk down towards the lighthouse.
