Alexandros Salt Pans are clearly no longer used for salt production. There are several small lagoons by the beach at the south side and the tarmac road follows the beach. A good dirt track continues along the embankment all the way, finishing as a dead end after 2.4 kilometres.
I visited the site in September during high tide (a dozen of both svarthuvad mås and Kentsk tärna, medelhavstrut, skräntärna, dvärgskarv and Storskarv, Silkeshäger, grässångare), was somewhat surprised by the low number of birds, so I returned during low tide, only to find even fewer birds and not a single shorebird.
Local eBird hotspot also mention cettisångare, Rostgumpsvala, krushuvad pelikan, större flamingo, småtärna, blek tornseglare, svartbent strandpipare, småspov, rödbena, and gluttsnäppa.
