A coastal lake used for tourism with a shallow water zone and reed areas.
The Wangermeer is an artificial lake that was only created around 2010 through clay mining. Ornithologically it is particularly interesting in winter when resting water birds like thousands sothöna, vigg, brunand or bläsand, as well as salskrake and storskrake concentrate. In the northeast part there is also a falch water zone, which, however, can be flooded depending on the water level. A small belt of reeds has also formed on the edge of the lake. There is also a smaller pond in the northeast of the main lake that is not used for tourism. Otherwise, the Wangermeer is a very popular and developed place for tourists, where the ornithologist who is looking for peace and quiet certainly does not want to stay during summer tourist times. In winter, however, there is some peace and quiet and you only share bird watching with a few walkers and anglers.
Since the lake is very well developed for tourism, there are numerous parking spaces. The lake is also easy to circumnavigate by bike.
