Beskrivning
The Schwenninger Moos is a wet bog and nature reserve of 3 square kilometers in size near the village of Schwenningen. Through the moor runs the European watershed, which separates the tributaries of the Rhine and Danube. Peat was mined in the Schwenninger Moos from 1748 until the 1950s. By building barriers in the ditches renaturation could be achieved. There are over 400 different plant species in the bog, but the reserve is also attractive for birds. Among the birds you can encounter are rostand, Kricka, enkelbeckasin, grönbena, drillsnäppa, medelhavstrut, ägretthäger, röd glada, kungsfiskare, gråspett, törnskata, svart rödstjärt, gulsparv and domherre.
