Renaturalized part of Niers river with some flooded areas that are now a popular resting place for migrating waders and waterfowl.
If you are in the area of NSG Fritzbruch during spring and autumn migration, this location will offer interesting sights, especially of wading birds, such as mindre strandpipare, drillsnäppa, skogssnäppa, grönbena, enkelbeckasin and others. You will also find migrating waterfowl, such as årta, bläsand, Kricka and others. Most of these birds don't winter or breed here, but only stop for a rest on migration. In summer and winter it is less interesting to visit. You will still find some waterfowl, swans and ducks, birds of prey and busy song birds in the small forest next to the river, but usually I would recommend this place in spring and autumn. There is also only one other spot to watch, which is a small artificial hill built exactly for this purpose. It's indicated on the map. (Update 2022 there was an extension of the area to the south. There is no formal observation point, but it is possible to watch from the end of a farm track through an iron fence as indicated in the map)
There is no car park, you have to find a place on the field access roads without blocking other traffic. I have indicated a space, where people park regularly, but it is a bit adventurous during bad weather, so be careful.
