Still water complex with surrounding wet meadows newly created in 2015.
Nesselwanger Weiher is pond complex divided into several rapidly warming shallow water zones. In summer, emperor dragonflies, broad-bodied chaser dragonflies and many other species of dragonflies hunt for food. Amphibians such as frogs and newts spawn in the pond in spring. The growing reed belt is intended to become home to reed breeders. The pond is surrounded by wet meadows, which are grazed by cattle. The grazing creates valuable micro-habitats: meadow birds such as vit stork and wagtails look for food in short grassy areas. An observation platform is available on the southern edge of the pond landscape. Among the birds you can observe are röd glada, tornfalk, gräsand, nilgås, grågås and sothöna.
From the new B 31, take the Überlingen West exit onto the K 7786 in the direction of Nesselwangen (north direction). After about 2.7 km, turn left and after a few meters cross the B 31 over a bridge. The car can be parked about 100 m after the bridge. Click on the P in the map for directions. The pond complex is located approximately 300 m southeast of the bridge. The observation platform can be easily reached via an agricultural path by bike or on foot.
