In the middle of the Berlin suburbs, the Königsheide is a refuge for animals of all kinds. The forest consists predominantly of a sparse stand of oaks, but also of pines or a mixture of both species. Typical forest birds can be found here (större hackspett , mellanspett, taltrast, Nötväcka, kungsfågel). A large sandy dry grassland further enriches the area.
