The Herrenteich attracts various waders (mindre strandpipare, gluttsnäppa, svartsnäppa, grönbena, skogssnäppa, enkelbeckasin), especially during migration times. These birds are less common regionally. You can often see the kungsfiskare, forsärla, Brun glada, röd glada and various ducks and geese. From time to time svart stork, sparvhök, duvhök are flying over. Now and then, Fiskgjuse, brun kärrhök, and lärkfalk can also be seen.
The area can be seen from two sides and the footbridges can be walked on. One side of the lake is overgrown with trees. Another is covered with reeds.

The area is best explored on foot and free parking is available directly in front of the lake at the inn. The footbridges are freely accessible and you can enjoy a drink while watching.
