Beskrivning
The Geflügelmastanlagen und Kiesgrube Oppin area is characterised by industrial use. Gravel and sand pits and storage, and, in dark irony for a birding website: industrial poultry production sites. It is surrounded by agricultural land and to the west some uncultivated grassland.
The poultry buildings are fenced off and the vegetation is kept short. This seems to be one of the reasons why tofslärka breeds here. In the bushes along the roadside pilfink, törnsångare, kornsparv and hämpling can be observed. In the fields around the site gulärla, Fasan and sånglärka are a regular sight. During migration stenskvätta and mindre strandpipare visit the barren gravel areas.
Note: The premises of the companies in the area can not be entered under any circumstances! It is only possilbe to watch from the outside. Therefore binoculars or even a scope are recommended.
On the way to the poultry premises from the parking spot on the map, keep your eyes open for overflying biätare, tornfalk and other birds of prey.
