The area consists of a number of marshes close together with scattered trees. It is located by the sea, so a walk on the beach is a good fit.
The swamps are largely covered with water lilies, but the White-faced Whistling Duck point you to the water features. There are many African Jacana and other rails (Black Crake, African Swamphen, etc.) and ducks like Garganey, Knob-billed Duck and others, but also many songbirds in the scattered acacias of the area. Like Plain-backed Pipit, Vieillot's Barbet and Cut-throat Finch, but also 'Europeans' like Subalpine Warbler (inornata), Common Chiffchaff, Willow Warbler, Western Bonelli's Warbler, etc. And not to forget various species of herons, including Black Heron, Yellow-billed Stork and sometimes even Saddle-billed Stork.
On the beach you can find the rare White-fronted Plover and a variety of European migratory birds like , Sanderling, Common Redshank, Common Greenshank, Sandwich Tern, Whimbrel and many more.
