The interest of visiting La Levée de Matoury is to be able to observe the Toco Toucan in French Guiana. Indeed it is otherwise quite difficult to observe this species elsewhere in the country.
In addition to the Toco Toucan you can also observe: Crested Eagle, Rufous Crab Hawk, Green Aracari, Cream-colored Woodpecker, Golden-collared Woodpecker, Variable Chachalaca, Smoky-fronted Tody-Flycatcher, Pearly-breasted Cuckoo, Bright-rumped Attila, Green Ibis, Dusky Parrot, Rufous-breasted Hermit, Dusky Antbird, Tricolored Heron, White-bearded Manakin, Ringed Kingfisher, Purple-throated Fruitcrow, Plain-brown Woodcreeper, Hooded Tanager, Snail Kite, Crimson-hooded Manakin, Anhinga, Savanna Hawk, Epaulet Oriole, Variegated Flycatcher, Blackpoll Warbler, Grey-fronted Dove, American Pygmy Kingfisher, Blackish-gray Antshrike, Cinereous Becard, Black-collared Hawk, Brown-throated Parakeet, Black-crested Antshrike, Boat-billed Flycatcher, Bicolored Conebill, Grey-necked Wood-Rail, Cinnamon Attila and Scarlet Ibis.

Français: La zone est une courte route menant à une jettée. La zone est n'est pas spécialement belle (même assez poluée) mais permet des observations de toucan toco. L'interet de venir observer sur cette petite portion de route est de pouvoir observer le Toucan toco en Guyane francaise. En effet il est sinon assez difficile d'observer l'espèce ailleurs sur le territoire.

La Levée de Matoury is easily accessible from the Matourienne road, you have to take the intersection indicating La Levée and go to the end of the road. Press P on the map for directions. To have a chance to observe the Toco Toucan I advise you to walk the route several times.
