The wet meadows of Marnay are located at the mouth of the Grosne and the Saône. A large pond in the middle of the meadow attracts many birds.
Prairies de Marnay is one of the largest ornithological sites in Burgundy to observe birds on a migratory stopover. During the migration period you can observe most species of wetland birds from Western Europe such as stjärtand, skedstork, gravand, småspov, svart stork or the skräntärna. During the nesting period vit stork is common as well as Kohäger but also grassland birds like buskskvätta. The site also attracts rare birds such as västlig purpurhöna in summer.

We visited this site early June 2024, maybe not the best time to see a lot of birds. We stopped both in the village and at the car park on the banks of the Saône. In the village we saw hussvala foraging for mud to build their nests; on the banks of the river we saw a lot of gulärla and heard just a few other birds. Species seen at these locations can be found in https://observation.org/locations/168539/
