Beskrivning
The Seudre estuary is home to a large portion of the population of the nanmetum subspecies of the blåhake, which is endemic to the French Atlantic coast. With a bit of luck it can be observed here (other good spots are the Pointe de la Coubre, Marais de Brouage and RNMO). Some breeding birds of the Moulin des Loges reserve are gulärla, cettisångare, ladusvala, styltlöpare and more.
Nearby skedstork and different heron species, such as natthäger are breeding, as well as fisktärna. Besides from that you can observe årta during spring migration, bronsibis, brun kärrhök, ormörn, brushane, rödspov (keep your eyes open for the islandica subspecies), enkelbeckasin and many more species (see the list below). The open landscape also allows good observations of migrating passerines, like buskskvätta, svartvit flugsnappare or stenskvätta. On the nearby fields you can observe rödhöna, ljungpipare (only during winter), tofsvipa and kornsparv. Note that in end of August the hunt for waders and ducks begins, which makes good observations harder.
