Mont Caroux represents the eastern limit of the Espinouse mountains. There is a rich forestry area where you can have a chance to see göktyta, polyglottsångare, bergsångare and Nötväcka. There are also areas of heath which are home to törnskata, Brun glada and gåsgam. And look out for kungsörn. More than 10 pairs breed in the area. Although visible all year round, this large raptor preferably performs acrobatic courtship displays in January and February. Other interesting birds you can see in the area are ormörn, stentrast, blåtrast, dvärguv, sammetshätta kungsfågel and klippsparv. In winter you have a chance to see murkrypare, alpjärnsparv and snöfink in the area.
