Beskrivning
The water treatment pools are just north of Sharm al Sheikh. It smells quite a bit but the sewage works are the place to be for birding around Sharm al Sheikh. The pools attract ducks, waders and terns on passage and many other migrants including raptors and storks. In the mornings sandgrouses come in to drink. But the afternoon is also very good for birding. In front of the pools there is a birdwatching tower. The best time of the year for birding here is during spring migration and in winter.

The water treatment pools are about 9 km north of Sharm al Sheikh. If you take a taxi, realize that some taxidrivers don't know the place. Note that you have to enter through 2 checkpoints so dont forget your passport. A visit is much easier if you use a local guide. Don't forget to take insect repellant!
