Beskrivning
Chropyňský pond and surroundings are part the Upper Moravian Valley and a protected area. It houses a big colony of skrattmås. In the past sometimes even up to 5000 pairs (one of the most numerous colonies in Central Europe). There is irregular nestling of svarthalsad dopping and many common and less common wetland birds can be seen here. Like trastsångare, sävsångare, årta, sothöna, rörhöna, skäggdopping, Smådopping, dvärgrördrom, Sävsparv and drillsnäppa. The pond is also visited by Fiskgjuse, brun kärrhök, gråhäger, tofsvipa and kungsfiskare.

On the northern side of the pond is a parking place (see the P on the map). From there you can make a circular walk (2 km) around the pond. You will pass the observation tower on the northwestern edge of the pond. The tower is 7 m high, the covered viewing platform is located at a height of 3 m.
