Beskrivning
The area between Königshof and Bruckneudorf forms one unique biotope network with flowing and standing water, reed zones, wet meadows and alluvial forest and is home to a variety of flora and fauna. The centerpiece is the 30 hectare nature reserve "Batthyanyfeld". Birds in particular use this area as breeding and feeding ground.
Due to the geographical location between the March-Donauauen and Lake Neusiedl, this area offers an important stepping stone and resting place for migratory birds and is therefore of great importance for bird protection. The Batthyanyfeld is an important habitat for the reed birds. Here you can find warblers, herons, ducks, rails and birds of prey. From summer, when the water level sinks, it is an important feeding and resting place for waders. The best months for bird watching are from May to October. To date 183 different bird species have been observed. Rarities that have been spotted include vattensångare, Rostgumpsvala, tuvsnäppa, småfläckig sumphöna and, aftonfalk.
