Beautiful route that is accessible from the Gillards Campground. You will already encounter many species at the campsite.
Mimosa Rocks National Park has beaches, lagoons, lakes and forests. The park is an important stop for many migratory birds that nest along the park’s coastline. Look along the beaches and rock platforms – you may see threatened Hooded Plover or Pied Oystercatcher. The Bar-tailed Godwit stops by briefly in summer during its migration from Alaska to New Zealand.
Gillards Campground is located in a forested area. A pretty campground nestled between the beach and the bush. From the campsite you can walk to the coast. Here you will find rocky coasts and sandy beaches. Species that you will definitely encounter are: Bell Miner, Superb Fairywren and Yellow-faced Honeyeater. Due to the variety of landscapes you will encounter many other bird species. See the birdlist below.
