Rocky peninsula at eastern end of Largo bay, with pine plantation, open grassland and calciferous sandy beach.
Ruddon's Point is said to be the best place in Britain to view overwintering Crni turpan, Baršunasti turpan and the rare Lisasti turpan together. Also wintering here may be Gavka, Patka dupljašica, Veliki ronac, Riđovrati gnjurac, Ušati gnjurac, all 3 diver species, Morska sprutka and Srednji ronac.
Poljska ševa, Morska trepteljka, Ostrigar, Crvenonogi sprudnik, Žalar blatarić and Konopljarka breed here, plus Krstokljun, Čižak and Kraljić in the pines.
As with many east coast sites, rare migrants such as Pirgasta grmuša, Šarenokrili azijski zviždak and Mala muharica may turn up in September.
Take the A917 eastwards from Largo and park at entrance to Shell Bay caravan park. Click on a P in the map to get directions.
