Nature reserve alongside the Manchester Ship Canal and is bisected by the de-watered course of the Runcorn to Latchford Canal.
Moore Nature Reserve was created from an area which had included a sand quarry and farmland. The reserve covers 81 hectares. There are five lakes, woodland, meadows, bird feeding stations and nine bird hides covering the lakes. The RSPB state that is one of the best in Cheshire for birdwatching, noting that it hosts three species of woodpecker and five species of British owls.
Moore Nature Reserve is situated between the Manchester Ship Canal and the River Mersey. Click on the P in the map to get directions to the (free) parking. The area has paths, benches and many bird hides which makes exploring the site easy. The circular walk indicated on the map below is about 5 km long.
