Description

Mansands, managed by the National Trust, has changed a lot in recent years. The sea defences at the back of the shingle beach, now long removed, once put in place to protect pasture, has allowed the sea to encroach further inland, forming an excellent wetland with standing water and reedbeds. The bird hide, once a temporary simple 'blind' has been removed and replaced with a permanent hide. In 2019 a causeway was built across the reserve dividing it in two. Some birds you can expect to see are Svilorepi cvrčić, Trstenjak crvrkutić, Ćubasta patka, Čegrtuša, the area has attracted rarities such as a male Plavokrila krdža in 2020. BE SURE to check for birds offshore along beach.
