Unique semicircular limestone escarpment with breeding Sivi soko. Upland tarn with breeding waders.
Malham Cove is a regular nest site for Sivi soko, Gradska lasta, Kukumavka, Obična crvenrepka and Obična beloguza. RSPB volunteers with telescope in attendance. Malham Tarn is a National Nature Reserve and SSSI. There are breeding Crvenonogi sprudnik, Žuta pliska, Potočna pliska, Vodenkos, Vivak, Polojka and water voles. Possibility of Planinski zujavac in autumn and Snežna strnadica in winter.
Malham is a short way north of the A65 transpennine road from Lancaster to Skipton. There is no car parking at the Cove, park in Malham village and walk or cycle up. For Malham tarn, leave Malham northward on Cove road and turn right at crossroads.
