Half Moon Common - Court Copse is North West of the City of Southampton in Hampshire.
The area comprises of a large area of heathland with both deciduous and conifer woodland.
(*1), from around the car park area scan for overflying Mišar, Vetruška, Kobac and Riđa lunja. During the Summer Osičar are sometimes seen. More open areas have can have Golub dupljaš, Drozd imelaš, Zelena žuna, Livadska trepteljka, Poljska ševa and Šumska ševa. Gorse (Ulex) patches have Dugorepa grmuša and Crnoglava travarka.
(*2), Broadleaved woodland here hold Batokljun, Mali detlić, Brgljez, Kratkokljuni puzić. In Summer Grlica, Siva muharica, Obična crvenrepka, Obični zviždak, Crnoglava grmuša and Obična kukavica can all be expected. Birch (Betula) trees can attract Obična travarka, Šumski zviždak, Siva grmuša, Brezov zviždak, Grmuša čavrljanka, Konopljarka, Zimovka and Dugorepa senica.
(*3), Court Copse area, scattered scrub here on the North edge of the copse, have 'roding' Šumska šljuka and 'churring" Leganj in the evenings. More open areas have Livadska trepteljka and Poljska ševa, scattered trees can have Šumska ševa and Šumska trepteljka.
Be sure to check any scrubland for Strnadica žutovoljka, Crnoglava travarka, Konopljarka, Obična grmuša and Grmuša čavrljanka. Conifers around the site can have Kraljić, Vatroglavi kraljić, Jelova senica, Čižak and the occasional Krstokljun.
Leave the M27 motorway at junction 2, on roundabout take exit signed Salisbury/Romsey/Fawley/A36, at next roundabout take second exit signed Salisbury/Plaitford/Wellow/A36. Continue on this road turning Left at sign for Bradshaw, pass over cattle grid onto Black Hill Road. Continue on this road and large car park (free) is on the Left.
