Description

Black Devon Wetlands is a small area (28 hectares) untouched wet grassland and wetland habitat which includes freshwater pools, brackish pools and reedbeds. This new site is being developed by RSPB Scotland. The reserve is set back from the Inner Forth and forms an important area for large flocks of wintering wading birds and wildfowl. The close proximity to the Firth of Forth means that the site acts as a sanctuary and high tide roost for the birdlife using the estuarine mudflats. The first of the Kratkokljuna guska arrive back in the estuary as winter approaches. Among the other birds you can see are Labud grbac, Barski petlovan, Bregunica, Krdža, Trstenjak rogožar, Cvrčić tršćar, Šarena utva, Mali gnjurac, Velika carska šljuka, Crvenonogi sprudnik, Poljska ševa, Češljugar, Crnoglava travarka and Barska strnadica.
