There are several springs that have different water qualities. These springs feed the dense reed beds of the marshland with subspecies of Ždral.
Ekşisu Marshes has vast reed beds in the valley. It is a diverse area in terms of birds. During the breeding season Siva čaplja nests on top of the reeds which is not a common breeding place of the species in Turkey. The subspecies of Ždral (Grus grus archibaldi) which can be seen in Turkey and a few neighboring countries breeds in the area. This subspecies is rare and vulnerable. Grus grus archibaldi differs from the nominate subspecies by the nearly completely black head plate (red in Grus g. grus) and the light yellow eyes (red, orange or yellow in Grus g. grus). Also, there are Sivoglava sultanka, Obični cvrčić and much more.
