Description
The Fanel area lies at the northeast end of Lake Neuchâtel. It is part of the Grande Cariçaie, which is the largest reed area in Switzerland and extends along the entire southern shore of Lake Neuchâtel. In addition to the actual area with shallow water zones, reed beds, sand banks and forest areas, the surrounding area with the agricultural areas is also very attractive for many bird species. It is therefore not surprising that the region is one of the most interesting places for birding in Switzerland. Nice birds you can see here are Belokrila čigra, Brkata senica, Senica vuga, Barski petlić, Mali ronac and Veliki svračak. But many more ducks, waders, divers and other waterbirds can be found here. Access
The Fanel area is located at the northeast end of Lake Neuchâtel. You can park at the Natural center of "La Sauge" and then you can walk into the reserve. Press P on the map for directions to the parking.
