The bay of Västerstadsviken is best known for the many waders and ducks that make a stop here during migration.
Västerstadsviken is a great place for birding. Next to the large numbers of migrating birds, also many wetland species breed here, including Čegrtuša, Sabljarka and Mala čigra. During autumn and spring, large numbers of resting waders can be seen in the bay. Seeing about twenty wading bird species and three to four species of terns is not uncommon. Pljosnokljuna sprutka and Crvenovrata liskonoga occur regularly.
From the road between Kastlösa and Degerhamn take off west on a smaller road that goes down to the sea and a bathing place, you have a good parking here. From the parking lot you can walk a few hundred meters north and get a good view of the bay, especially in the morning. There is also a platform that gives even better views.
