Lake with large reed beds that is a good place for watching migratory birds. From a high observation tower you can overlook the area.
Säbysjön is a lake of about 2.5 km long and about 400 meters wide. The lake's largest depth is about 2 meters.. A good area for watching migratory birds. The reed has been opened up so that birds can breed in the reed islands, without a chance for predators coming to visit. In the reed islands, a large and noisy Obični galeb colony breeds in the spring. From the large bird tower on the southeastern shore of the lake you have nice views of the southern parts of the lake. There is also a smaller bird tower nearby overlooking the wet meadows. Most birds in the lake can be seen in April to May and in September. In the spring there are both migratory and nesting birds. Among the birds you can encounter here are Veliki labud, Patka dupljašica, Zviždara, Riđoglava patka, Ždral, Vivak, Barska šljuka, Crnogrli morski gnjurac, Ribar, Trstenjak rogožar, Barska strnadica and Strnadica žutovoljka.
From Jakobsberg station it is a 2 km walk to lake Säbysjön. You can also get here by bike, but for the observation tower you're going to have to walk the last part. From the gravel road along the road a path of about 600 meters long leads to the bird tower. Parking space is located at the side of the road.
