Description
In and around Leonardsberg 233 bird species have been recorded. During the spring migration the area is an important resting ground for migrating geese like Guska ljigarica, Lisasta guska and Guska glogovnjača (tundranska) who sometimes rest in large amounts. The shallow lake also attracts large amounts of dabblings ducks. The coastal meadows also hold large amounts of waders especially during autumn. The fields around Leonardsberg often hold large flocks of doves, thrushes, and finches in the autumn, among these Riđogrla trepteljka and Strnadica ostrugašica are often found.
There is a large colony of Obični galeb next to Leonardsberg holding hundreds of gulls. From Leonardsberg you can sometimes get a good view of migrating birds of prey and migrating passerine birds. Large amounts of Golub grivnaš and Mišar are sometimes seen.
