Beijershamn

Öland  >  Sweden

An old dock that was constructed wrongly and was eventually abandoned. The placement of the dock raised the sand banks and is nowadays overgrown by vegetation.

Description

From the birdtower at Beijershamn and the path going along the beach you will have an amazing view over the vast sand banks and islands in the bay. This is a great location for observing nesting and migrating birds, especially waders and shore birds. This bay hosts a variety of species year round like Šarena utva, Sabljarka, Belorepan and Mala sprutka. Note: During spring, summer and autumn it is forbidden to leave the trail in order to protect the eggs, chicks and migrating birds in the area.
