Part of the Santa Pola salt pans but at one end and now largely a nature reserve with hides. Tends to be quiet and has sand dunes behind also part of reserve.
The coastal salt pans at El Pinet, which are at the southern end of the Santa Pola Salinas are a good for birdwatching. Is a bit off the usual beat but development nearby may change that.
Crossing the wooden boardwalks through the pine covered sand dunes you can go to raised platforms hides which strategical overlook the salt pans.
Birds you can see here are Plamenac, Vlastelica, Sabljarka, Morski žalar, Južni veliki svračak, Mala ševa, Sredozemni galeb, Zijavac and Mala čigra.
Car park at one end with board walk part sand through dunes. Walking on sand can be tiring.
There are three hides (one with upper platform) on main route with a tower hide on other side closer to the main road.
