The rocky coastline reveals rock pools popular with waders, gulls and terns and can be walked north towards Costa Antigua or south towards Salinas del Carmen.
A great spot for a Coastal walk and Sea watch with all the facilities of a popular resort. Following the coastal path the area can be walked north towards Costa Antigua or south towards Salinas del Carmen, this proved to be a very productive stretch, as was the marina and port area. Regular sightings of Kašičar (20), Dugokljuna čigra (48), Mala carska šljuka , Šljuka kamenjarka , Krivokljuni sprudnik , Crvenonogi sprudnik , Bela sprutka , Crnotrba sprutka , Srebrni vivak , Morski žalar , Žalar slepić , Žalar blatarić , Sprudnik pijukavac and Polojka to mention a few.
Reached from the main road FV2 and signposted Caleta de Fuste, once at the resort head towards the beach ( Costa Caleta), here theres plenty of free parking. Park up and walk the path either north or south, both ways are very productive, or bike hire is also available and a good alternative to walking as further distance can be easily covered. The area around the Marina and port (Puerto Caleta) is also worth exploring.
We explored this area after the hire car was returned, we were based at Caleta, to make things easier we walked the first visit North to Costa Anigua, and took a cab back to Costa Caleta (€4.50) and on the second visit we got a Cab South to Salias del Carman (€6.50) and walked back to Costa Caleta. Bike hire is a good option here too, and you can hire electric scooters.
