Description

Schellinkhout - De Nek was created a century ago by excavating clay to reinforce the dike. A beautiful nature reserve has developed here. The lake and the surrounding marsh attract many birds. The birds can be easily observed from the dike, without disturbing the birds. Birds that you can see include Zlatni vivak, Sprudnik ubojica, Muljača, Mali labud and Barska šljuka. Sometimes you can also see rarities, such as a Žutogrudi sprudnik that stayed here for a while in 2024.

Nederlands: Schellinkhout - De Nek is in de jaren 20 van de 20e eeuw ontstaan door afgraving van klei voor de versterking van de dijk. Hier is een mooi natuurreservaat ontstaan. De plas en het moeras eromheen trekken veel vogels aan. De vogels zijn goed vanaf de dijk te zien, zonder de vogels te verstoren. Vogels die je kunt zien zijn onder meer Zlatni vivak, Sprudnik ubojica, Muljača, Mali labud en Barska šljuka. Soms zijn er ook zeldzaamheden te zien zoals een Žutogrudi sprudnik die in 2024 hier een tijdje verbleef.

Schellinkhout - De Nek is located 7 km southeast of the town of Hoorn, on Lake Markermeer. You can reach it by car and park along the dike. Parking is limited. Press P on the map for directions. There is a bus stop 6 minutes away: "Schellinkhout, Sluis." (1)

Nederlands: Schellinkhout - De Nek ligt 7 km ten zuidoosten van Hoorn, aan het Markermeer. Je kunt er komen met de auto en langs de dijk parkeren. Er is beperkte plek om te parkeren. Druk op P in de kaart voor een routebeschrijving. Op 6 minuten afstand is er een bushalte: 'Schellinkhout, Sluis' (1).
