Water from the dunes runs towards the south point of Texel. Het Grote Vlak consists of a few lakes in this water course.

Description

Het Grote Vlak often holds a lot of ducks ( Plovka kašikara , Čegrtuša , Šiljkan , Šarena utva , Zviždara and in spring Grogotovac ), gulls and grebes. Sometimes waders, like Muljača , are abundant and few songbirds, like planinska trepteljka and Crnoglava travarka (sometimes even Modrovoljka ), can be found. The area is also good for finding Golub dupljaš , Obična beloguza and in winter Gaćasti mišar .

Access

Het Grote Vlak is easily accessible from the village of Den Hoorn towards the beach. You can park on the roadside, but try to give way to cyclists on the parallel cycle path.
